Important Things to Consider When Choosing an Engagement or Wedding Photographer

Your engagement and wedding photos are the most lasting remembrance of the event and that makes them very important to every couple. Therefore, it is important for all future bride and groom to understand what they are looking for when searching for a wedding photographer. Due to that, we at Nicatech would want to share with you some tips on what to consider when choosing your engagement or wedding photographer.

1. Has this person photographed other weddings? Does he/she do this for a living or for fun?

Nicatech consist of experienced photographer which previously involved in weddings, engagements and events photographing as a freelance. We have a total experience of 2 years doing events all around Malaysia. To show our further commitment and dedication towards our customers, we have also established a company named “Nicatech Enterprise” registered under “Companies Commission of Malaysia” (SSM). The company was established to further show our commitment and seriousness in the photography business to all our future customers. We hope by having a more formal setup, it will help to convince our customers that Nicatech means business and will surely deliver an extravagant job to them!

2. Are the images that you are shown, what you would like to see? There are "buzz" words flying about everywhere about photojournalism, formal, classic candid, and so on. Do you want a mixture of black and white or only color photos?

For us in Nicatech, every customer is unique and different. During our photography session, it is all about you. It’s your BIG day anyway. We will make sure that we deliver as what you want (of course we will guide you along the way). It is important for us to understand what you want us to deliver and what you want to see in your pictures and your album. With this, we can guarantee you that our deliverables will be with quality all the way.

3. Is this the photographer that will be photographing your wedding or will they send in whoever is available? Don't be shocked, this happens more often than you can imagine. Be certain that you know which photographer is going to be there and that you see HIS/HER work and meet with that individually face to face.

4. Is the photographer that you meet someone that you can get along with? Is the "chemistry" there?

Imagine, you have spent months preparing for your perfect wedding. You have selected everything, including your photographer, whose selection of work was outstanding and the photographer’s personality was also wonderful. You really clicked with him (WHICH IS VERY IMPORTANT!) and felt very comfortable with your decision of hiring him. You really looked forward to interact with this person throughout your special day because you got along with him so well. A huge weight has been lifted from you because one of your biggest concerns was being able to find a photographer not only whose work you loved, but whose personality clicked with yours as well. After all, you want to be as comfortable with this person as possible since you’ll be dealing with him throughout your entire wedding day!

So, the big day comes and you’re nervously getting ready. Suddenly, there’s a knock on your door. ‘Oh, that must be my photographer!’ you exclaim excitedly. With a smile from ear to ear you rush to the door excited to greet this kind person with whom you’ve meshed so well during your many conversations over the past several months. You open the door and greet... a strange looking unshaven man in rumpled clothing that you’ve never seen before in your life!

‘Hello...’ he spews, ‘I’m your photographer!’...

There’s really no need for us to continue with this very true horror story. The scene just gets uglier from there, and yes, this has happened more than once! So right now you’re probably thinking ‘But she didn’t hire HIM! Where’s her knight in shining camera equipment???’

With Nicatech, this will never happen. It is at our utmost attention to make sure that you will be comfortable with our photographer. He will be meeting you at least once or twice (or even more if you want it) to understand and to get to know you and future HUSBAND/ WIFE better. Of course, to get the chemistry working before your BIG day arrive.

5. Although, the last thing you want to do is shop by price, is this person within your budget? If not, is he or she worth the price difference? Make sure you understand what everything costs, including reprints and albums.

Quality comes with a price. However, we can guarantee you that all our pricing and packages are very competitive as compared to the current market. During our meeting, we will show you some of our work/style. We will also find out what your preferences is, we will informed you how many shots estimated will be taken, what key things that will be recorded, how the shots will be used (print etc), and other details. This is because, we in Nicatech feels that it is important that all our customers understand fully our packages and what they are getting for the price they are paying. We are not trying to be the cheapest but we are always trying to be the best thus delivering quality work is always our main concern in our deliverables to our customers.
